Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar International School Malaysia International School tour No.9

Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar

Malaysia International School tour

The Malaysian International School we visited this time is Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ), located in the southern suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.

The campus is very spacious! Due to its size, we had the surprising experience of touring the school by buggy. The facilities are so well-equipped that other schools even hold their sports days at KTJ.

Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) is one of the top-level international schools in Malaysia with excellent boarding facilities. It is a well-balanced school academically, in sports, and culturally, with robust infrastructure to support both academics and extracurricular activities. The entire campus is set in a vast, nature-rich environment, making it an ideal place for learning.

Regarding admissions, English proficiency is emphasized.

Below is an excerpt from the school’s website.

Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar was founded in 1989 by members of the Negeri Sembilan Royal Family and KTJ is one of the region’s premier international schools for students aged 3 to 19 years.

At KTJ, students are nurtured by the values of British independent school education, infused with the vitality of Malaysian culture. KTJ ensures that students are prepared to thrive in the rapidly-changing world outside the school gates.

KTJ is a co-educational and multi-cultural school with over 1,000 students representing 24 nationalities, creating a rich environment for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Dr Glenn Moodie, the Principal of KTJ, leads the team that makes the school a top choice for students and parents alike.

He has passion about KTJ’s vision and mission, the holistic development of students and how a well-rounded curriculum creates pathways for their success in school, university and beyond. Dr Glenn is also a strong advocate for the protection of the environment, and that is reflected in the school’s direction.

KTJ prohibits photography on campus, so the images in the blog are excerpts from their website. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t take our photos, but it truly is a wonderful school.

The entrance resembles that of a resort hotel, featuring a wooden ceiling, modern lighting, and stylish windows. From the entrance, you can overlook a spacious courtyard, creating a sense of openness and harmony between the school and nature. The hallways connect to the courtyard, allowing students to feel close to nature while attending classes. It seems like a perfect garden for picnics when the weather is nice!

The gymnasium even has a rock climbing wall! It's quite rare to find this in a school. The schoolyard is also one of the largest among international schools in the Kuala Lumpur area.

⚫︎Primary

Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar are dedicated to enhancing our students' love for learning by providing a British-based primary syllabus that develops and challenges students' intellectual capabilities.

At KTJ, they believe that it takes more than just academic excellence to Make It. They want students to become reflective, independent, and self-motivated learners who are active, kind and socially aware.

⚫︎Secondary

The Secondary school encompasses Form 1 to 5 and the Sixth Form. Our students in Forms 1 to 3 follow a bespoke syllabus based on the English National Curriculum while students in Form 4 start preparing for their IGCSE exams which they sit for in Form 5. Learning is then further developed in the Sixth Form through A Levels, IELTS and university preparation. Secondary school is an important period in students' lives as they transition from being children to young adults. As such, KTJ provides integrated support for our students' academic, emotional and physical needs.

⚫︎Sixth Form

An education at KTJ Sixth Form is a first class ticket to the world's top universities. They prepare students to achieve the best academic results they possibly can, and they offer a wide range of opportunities to gear  students up for higher education and life beyond.
