Tabiniko provides information on international schools in Malaysia. This time, I would like to introduce King Henry VIII College International School in Cyberjaya.
English-Style IGCSE
The main building, where the entrance is located, showcases beautiful English-style architecture, featuring brick archways. For a moment, it feels like stepping into Europe. I couldn’t resist taking many pictures of this charming building, which has a historical feel! The authentic British school atmosphere is truly inspiring.
The original King Henry VIII School in the UK was founded nearly 500 years ago, during the reign of King Henry VIII. Meanwhile, King Henry VIII College Malaysia is a modern international school, established in 2018 in Cyberjaya. It offers education from kindergarten to pre-university, following the UK curriculum, including IGCSE and A-Level programs.

This is the interior of the main building where the main entrance is located. The inside is modern and stylish with a vaulted ceiling!

These are the teachers at KING HENRY VIII COLLEGE.
Nursery

English, Arithmetic. Math is also studied from kindergarten.

You study world maps from kindergarten. They come from all over the world to study, so it is important for them to learn the names and locations of their own country, their friends' countries, and their teachers' countries.

Outside playground.
Kindergarten & Primary Library

The books are divided into levels by box: red, yellow, blue, green, etc.
Year1

The decorations in the classrooms are lovely and children will enjoy coming to school! It feels like an international school. I went to a regular public school in Japan, and the school was a bleak sight. I would love to go to such a colorful school 😄

Year3

Students' handwritings were displayed in the classroom. Many other schools introduce the use of I pads and computers in their classes as an appealing point, but King Henry VIII College said that they of course conduct computer classes, but that they place importance on "writing by hand" first. This is the first time I have heard this appealing point. From my perspective as an adult who forgets the feeling of writing by hand every day, I thought it would be nice to study using both the computer and my own hands.

Nursery - Year 3 is also a very colorful and cute classroom.

There is a large field in the courtyard of the school building. The grass is real.

The school building with the brown and white design is a dormitory. The photo is cut off, but on the left is the boys' dormitory. The middle one is the women's dormitory.

This school building is a sports center.
Pool

There is a fine indoor swimming pool for competitive swimming.

This is the children's pool. It is located next to the adult pool and has a nice solid children's pool.
Gymnasium

Stand seating is also available!
Dance Studio

Squash court

The school also focuses on sports. One Malaysian swimmer is also from this school.

Library of Secondary

The books are available online called EBOOKS.
Secondary cafeteria
Cafeteria

It is a very beautiful cafeteria with separate seating for larger and smaller students. At the time of our visit, a summer camp was just taking place. As mentioned above, the cafeteria serves buffet style meals and is air-conditioned, so it must be comfortable!
And what's more, the cost of food in the cafeteria is included in the tuition fee and is all-you-can-eat.

The rice looks delicious, like a hotel buffet! Today's menu, from right to left: braised Chinese cabbage, fried shrimp, and braised chicken.

From right to left: fried fish and bell peppers, fried broccoli and carrots, and bread.

salad

Soup with mushrooms, crab cakes and vegetables.

Fried noodles

Fruits & Desserts

We both got so much! This is a nutritious lunch with a wide variety of vegetables. It is amazing that we can eat this every day!

King Henry VIII College – An International School in Malaysia
◎ Early Years Education (Early Years Foundation Stage, Ages 3–5)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) program is designed for children in Nursery and Reception (ages 3–5). The curriculum follows the UK’s EYFS framework, focusing on child-led learning and engaging themes to ensure children have the best possible learning experiences.
◎ Primary School (Years 1–6 / Key Stage 1 & 2)
Years 1 and 2 (ages 5–7, Key Stage 1) are a crucial period for building foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and learning habits. We provide a fun and meaningful environment where children can explore various themes and interests.
Years 3 to 6 (ages 7–11, Key Stage 2) build upon prior learning while fostering independence and a sense of responsibility for one's own education. Engaging learning themes are designed to encourage curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
The core subjects in Key Stage 1 and 2 follow the UK National Curriculum and are taught by class teachers.
◎ Secondary & High School (Years 7–13 / Key Stages 3–5)
Years 7–9 (ages 11–14, Key Stage 3) mark a crucial stage in building a strong academic foundation. During this period, students acquire new skills while further strengthening and expanding those developed in primary school. Their learning experience is enriched through extracurricular activities such as dance, chess, school plays, and the school band.
Years 10–11 (ages 14–16, Key Stage 4) follow the Cambridge International Education (CAIE) program. At the end of Year 11, students prepare for the IGCSE examinations, striving for top academic achievement.
Years 12–13 (ages 16–18, Sixth Form, Key Stage 5) are the final years of school, preparing students for university and beyond. These two years focus on fostering intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning. Students are encouraged to actively participate in arts, music, and sports, helping to build confidence and a strong sense of self.
Our Sixth Form College offers a wide range of CAIE (Cambridge International Education) and Edexcel* examination courses, catering to diverse academic interests and career aspirations.
*(1) About CAIE (Cambridge International Education) and Edexcel
While CAIE and Edexcel are operated by different organizations, both are major UK-based examination and qualification providers offering IGCSE and A-Level programs.
The CAIE curriculum is more academically focused and widely recognized internationally, with strong recognition from top universities. Edexcel, on the other hand, has a more practical and vocational approach, making it a popular choice among schools in the UK.
Boarding Routine
We strongly believe that structure and routine are essential for the development of teenagers and young adults, not just academically, but also in their everyday lives outside of school. By waking up at the same time every morning, having regular meal times in the evenings, and dedicating time to homework each night, students can become more organised, punctual, and relaxed. These habits help to establish a sense of discipline and responsibility that will serve them well in all aspects of life.
Benefits of Boarding
