What I really liked about visiting Charterhouse School was the calm atmosphere of the campus and each student is assigned a mentor until their graduation.
The school also guides students in their university pathways and future careers. The distinctive features of Charterhouse's IGCSE Foundation Program include small class sizes of maximum 18 students, the programme ensures our students all enjoy personalised attention and can make meaningful connections with teachers and their peers. Students have access to our unique Future Ready programmes, including The Forum and IGNITE prepare for their futures, where they showcase leadership skills, explore their interests, and cultivate talents to become globally competitive professionals.
In addition to academics, there are initiatives for guidance and advice tailored to careers and university advancement, believing in providing an education that goes beyond academics and equips students with a comprehensive range of skills for a rapidly changing future.
Charterhouse’s Innovative Spectra Smarts framework integrates seven strands of intelligence (Knowledge,People, Understanding, Thinking, Feelings, Situations, Myself)
into every aspect of our educational journey, encompassing academics and extra-curricular activities. It is not just a tool, but a comprehensive guiding philosophy that shapes our approach to teaching and learning.
By focusing not only on what to learn, but also how to learn, Spectra Smarts empowers our students to develop a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the world.
Charterhouse is primarily based on the IGCSE curriculum, with some integration of the IB.
※The forum is focusing on developing students’ leadership potential.
※IGNITE provides not only academic support but also guidance and advice for careers and university admissions.
For over four hundred years, Charterhouse has stood as a testament to the power of education and its ability to transform lives. From its humble beginnings in London, where it provided opportunities for forty “poor scholars”, to its current status as one of England’s great schools, Charterhouse has constantly evolved to meet the changing needs of learners.
In 1872, the school relocated to its present site in Surrey, solidifying its position as one of the country’s renowned “public schools”.
The architecture of the campus seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, symbolising Charterhouse’s commitment to embracing the new while honouring its rich past. echoing our values: perseverance, responsibility, moral courage, open-mindedness, and kindness.
The campus of Charterhouse Malaysia has a very stylish interior that feels like a modern international school.
Sitting on the stairs chatting with friends feels so much like an international school vibe, doesn't it?!
It's my perception as someone who has only attended pure Japanese schools in Japan. 😅
<Library>
The library is located at the back of the lobby and is open for access.
It primarily features ebooks.
Next to the library, there is a study space available.
Next to the study space, there is also a ping pong table and a pool table.
Concerts are held over the weekends. The campus life at international schools is completely different from Japanese schools!!
In the left background of the photo, there is a café run by students, where they learn about management. Learning about business from a young age as a student... Education is indeed different from Japan. <Clinic>
There is also a clinic on campus where students can go when they're feeling unwell.
The corridors are spacious, and the classrooms are glass-walled, allowing visibility inside and creating a bright, open atmosphere.
It's a small-sized class with computer-based lessons. Adorning the glass windows of this classroom are charts depicting stocks, futures, bitcoins, and various other financial indicators. Regrettably, my proficiency in these areas is quite limited 💦💦
It seems like they study such difficult things at school!!!

These are the lockers. Colorful and lovely.
The classrooms are very bright and have a small class size, creating a great atmosphere. They use touchscreen smart TVs during classes.

Charterhouse's motto:
Spectra Smarts: Holistic education for a dynamic, ever-changing future.
This is the hallway in front of the art room, and it's spacious, so you can work on large pieces of art!
There are various art pieces exhibited in the hallway as well.
<Digital Art Room>
When we were young, there wasn't digital art like this, but now there is! (^_^♪
My son is 4 years old, and he loves LEGO, so he might enjoy this kind of art. Especially boys seem to really get into it when they like.
There is a 3D printer.
Drone?
A machine that can laser-cut wood.
<Art Room>
The art room was very organized. The art room at the school I attended wasn't this tidy (;^ω^)
Really good!
<Gym>
There’s a gym at the school! Gyms are quite common at international schools, but Japanese public schools don’t have this, so I was shocked when I see a gym for the first time at an international school (@_@)
<Laboratory>
There are cute drawings on the walls of the laboratory. This kind of thing feels very international school-like. How lovely!

<Student dormitory> The student dormitory is in bungalow style (with walls not attached to neighboring houses) and is luxurious, complete with a pool. It's located in the Bukit Kiara area of Kota Damansara.
<Living Room>
There is a piano and the staircase looks fancy! <Dining room>
<Kitchen>
There is also a balcony.
Right next to it is like a forest, surrounded by greenery, so the environment is nice. (#^.^#)
There is also a desk and a printer.
On Fridays and Saturdays, bedtime is 30 minutes later, and wake-up time on Saturdays and Sundays is 1 hour and 30 minutes later.
